First, you have to upload the banner to your picture host account like Photobucket or Picoodle.
Then you make an entry on your lj, select HTML tap and copy the HTML code provided by the host account and paste it onto your entry.
Set the date in the future like 31 Dec 2010 and select "Date out of order" to make the entry the first one on your lj page.
